Tamoxifen IP (10mg)
Tamoxifen is a medication primarily used in the treatment and prevention of hormone receptor-positive breast cancer.
Purpose: Tamoxifen is a selective estrogen receptor modulator (SERM). It works by blocking the effects of estrogen in breast tissue, thereby inhibiting the growth and proliferation of hormone receptor-positive breast cancer cells. Tamoxifen is used in various settings, including:
Adjuvant therapy: Tamoxifen is used as adjuvant (additional) therapy after surgery and other treatments to reduce the risk of recurrence in women with hormone receptor-positive early-stage breast cancer.
Metastatic breast cancer: Tamoxifen is used for the treatment of advanced or metastatic breast cancer in both premenopausal and postmenopausal women.
Breast cancer prevention: Tamoxifen may be used to reduce the risk of breast cancer in women at high risk of developing the disease.
