Clomifine 100
Clomiphene, commonly sold under the brand name Clomid among others, is a medication primarily used to treat infertility in women due to anovulation (lack of ovulation). Clomifine 100 belongs to a class of medications known as selective estrogen receptor modulators (SERMs). Clomifine 100 is used to induce ovulation in women who do not ovulate or ovulate irregularly. Clomifine 100 often prescribed for women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) or unexplained infertility.
Clomifine 100 works by blocking estrogen receptors in the hypothalamus, which leads to an increase in follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH) secretion from the pituitary gland. This, in turn, stimulates the ovaries to produce and release eggs.
Clomifine 100 is 50 milligrams (mg) daily for five days, usually beginning on the fifth day of the menstrual cycle. If ovulation does not occur at this dose, it may be increased in subsequent cycles. The maximum recommended daily dose is 100 mg.
Clomifine 100, regular monitoring with ultrasound and hormonal tests may be performed to assess follicular development and ovulation.
Clomifine 100, may include hot flashes, abdominal discomfort, breast tenderness, nausea, headache, and mood swings. There is also a risk of multiple pregnancies (e.g., twins or triplets) with clomiphene use.
Clomifine 100 is contraindicated in women with liver disease, ovarian cysts (other than those caused by PCOS), abnormal uterine bleeding, and certain types of ovarian tumors. It should not be used in women who are already pregnant.
