Ticagrelor 90mg TICAGRACE is an antiplatelet medication primarily used to prevent thrombotic events in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS) or a history of myocardial infarction. It belongs to a class of drugs known as P2Y12 receptor antagonists, which work by inhibiting platelet aggregation, a crucial step in the formation of blood clots. Here are the key aspects of TICAGRACE : Mechanism of Action TICAGRACE prevents blood clots by reversibly binding to the P2Y12 receptor on platelets. This action inhibits the ADP (adenosine diphosphate) mediated activation of the GPIIb/IIIa receptor complex, thereby reducing platelet aggregation. Unlike other antiplatelet agents like clopidogrel, TICAGRACE does not require metabolic activation to exert its effects, leading to a more rapid and consistent antiplatelet action. Indications Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS): TICAGRACE is indicated for patients with ACS, which includes conditions such as unstable angina (UA), non-ST-elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI), and ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI). It is often used in combination with aspirin. Secondary Prevention of Thrombotic Events: For patients who have had a previous myocardial infarction, TICAGRACE , in combination with aspirin, can be used to reduce the risk of further heart attacks, strokes, and death from a cardiovascular cause.
