Dapagliflozin (10mg)
Dapagliflozin is a medication used to treat type 2 diabetes. It belongs to a class of drugs called sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitors. These medications work by helping the kidneys remove glucose from the bloodstream through the urine. By lowering blood sugar levels, dapagliflozin helps to control diabetes.
Mechanism of Action: Dapagliflozin inhibits SGLT2, a protein responsible for reabsorbing glucose in the kidneys. By blocking this protein, dapagliflozin increases the amount of glucose excreted in the urine, thereby lowering blood sugar levels.
Indications: Dapagliflozin is indicated as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus.
