S LACTONE belongs to a class of medications called potassium-sparing diuretics. Aldosterone is a hormone produced by the adrenal glands that helps regulate the balance of sodium and potassium in the body. By blocking the action of aldosterone, S LACTONE helps to retain potassium while excreting sodium and water, which can be beneficial in conditions where the body retains too much sodium and water.
