Torsemide Tablets IP 40mg is used in the treatment of fluid retention.
Torasemide is used in the treatment of Hypertension (high blood pressure), Heart Failure, and high blood calcium level. TEROMIDE is a loop diuretic medication commonly used to treat fluid retention (edema) associated with heart failure, renal disease, or liver disease, such as cirrhosis. TEROMIDE works by acting on the loop of Henle in the kidney, leading to increased urine production. This action helps eliminate excess fluid from the body, thereby reducing swelling and lowering blood pressure.
Mechanism of Action
TEROMIDE inhibits the sodium-potassium-chloride cotransporter in the thick ascending limb of the loop of Henle. This inhibition results in decreased reabsorption of sodium and chloride, leading to an increase in the excretion of water, sodium, chloride, magnesium, and calcium. By increasing the amount of urine produced, torsemide effectively reduces fluid retention and lowers blood pressure.
Uses
Edema: TEROMIDE is used to reduce swelling and fluid retention caused by conditions such as congestive heart failure, liver disease, and kidney disease.
Hypertension: TEROMIDE is also used alone or in combination with other antihypertensive agents to treat high blood pressure, which can help prevent strokes, heart attacks, and kidney problems.
