WARFELIX is an anticoagulant medication commonly used to prevent blood clots from forming or growing larger in the blood and blood vessels. It's prescribed for a variety of conditions that put patients at an increased risk of thrombosis or embolism, including atrial fibrillation, venous thrombosis, pulmonary embolism, and for patients who have undergone certain types of heart valve surgery or stent placement. WARFELIX works by inhibiting the vitamin K-dependent synthesis of biologically active forms of the clotting factors II, VII, IX, and X, as well as anticoagulant proteins C and S.
Indications:
Prevention and treatment of venous thrombosis and its extension, pulmonary embolism.
Prevention and treatment of thromboembolic complications associated with atrial fibrillation and/or cardiac valve replacement.
Reduction in the risk of death, recurrent myocardial infarction, and thromboembolic events, such as stroke or systemic embolization after myocardial infarction.
How to Use:
WARFELIX dosage must be individualized for each patient based on the patient's INR (International Normalized Ratio) response. The INR is a test used to monitor the effects of warfarin and to ensure patients are within a therapeutic range that minimizes the risk of clotting without significantly increasing the risk of bleeding. Regular monitoring and dose adjustments are essential components of therapy with warfarin.
