Description

CARDULES ISMN SR 50 is a sustained-release tablet containing Isosorbide Mononitrate 50 mg, a nitrate-class medication widely prescribed for the prevention and long-term management of angina pectoris (chest pain due to heart disease). This drug works by relaxing and dilating blood vessels, improving oxygen supply to the heart muscles and reducing the heart's workload. It is primarily recommended for individuals with chronic stable angina or coronary artery disease. Key Benefits: Enhances oxygen delivery to the heart muscle, helping prevent angina episodes. Promotes vasodilation to improve overall blood flow, especially in coronary arteries. Reduces cardiac workload, allowing patients to perform daily activities with greater ease. Provides prolonged relief through sustained-release technology, maintaining consistent drug levels. Supports better quality of life and long-term chest pain management in heart patients. Mechanism of Action: The active ingredient, Isosorbide Mononitrate, is metabolized into nitric oxide (NO), a natural vasodilator. Nitric oxide activates guanylate cyclase, which increases cyclic GMP (cGMP) levels, leading to the relaxation of vascular smooth muscles. This causes vasodilation, decreasing both preload and afterload on the heart. As a result, the oxygen demand of the heart is reduced, minimizing angina symptoms. The sustained-release formulation ensures prolonged therapeutic action, reducing the need for frequent dosing. Directions for Use: Take once daily, preferably in the morning after a light meal. Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water—do not chew or crush. Follow the dosage and treatment duration as advised by your doctor. Do not discontinue the medication without medical supervision. Maintain a nitrate-free interval of 10–12 hours daily to prevent tolerance buildup. Potential Side Effects: While generally well-tolerated, some individuals may experience: Headaches (usually subside with continued use) Dizziness or lightheadedness, especially upon standing Facial flushing or a sensation of warmth Low blood pressure (hypotension) Nausea or vomiting Fatigue or general weakness Seek immediate medical attention if you experience severe allergic reactions, persistent chest pain, or signs of hypotension such as fainting or visual disturbances.
