Uses
CLOPIGOLD A 150 is primarily used in:
Secondary prevention of cardiovascular events: In patients who have already experienced a heart attack, stroke, or have established peripheral arterial disease.
Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS): For patients presenting with ACS, including those undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) with stent placement.
Stroke prevention: In certain patients who have had or are at risk of having a stroke, this combination may be recommended.
Mechanism of Action
Clopidogrel inhibits platelet aggregation by irreversibly inhibiting the binding of adenosine diphosphate (ADP) to platelet receptors, thereby blocking the ADP-mediated activation of the glycoprotein GPIIb/IIIa complex.
Aspirin works by irreversibly inhibiting cyclooxygenase-1 (COX-1) enzyme, which reduces the production of thromboxane A2, a molecule that causes platelets to clump together.
Together, these drugs provide a dual approach to preventing platelet aggregation, significantly reducing the risk of clot formation.
