Olmesartan (20mg), Amlodipine (5mg), HCTZ (12.5mg)
TRIOLMISTRUM is a combination medication used for the treatment of high blood pressure (hypertension). TRIOLMISTRUM brings together the actions of three different drugs, each working through a distinct mechanism, to provide a more comprehensive approach to lowering blood pressure than any one component alone. Managing high blood pressure helps prevent strokes, heart attacks, and kidney problems.
Olmesartan
Olmesartan is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB). It works by blocking the action of angiotensin II, a substance in the body that causes blood vessels to tighten and narrow. As a result, olmesartan relaxes blood vessels, which lowers blood pressure and increases the supply of blood and oxygen to the heart.
Amlodipine
Amlodipine belongs to a class of drugs known as calcium channel blockers (CCBs). It works by relaxing the muscles of your heart and blood vessels. Amlodipine widens blood vessels and improves blood flow, reducing the workload on the heart and subsequently lowering blood pressure.
Hydrochlorothiazide (HCTZ)
HCTZ is a thiazide diuretic (water pill) that helps prevent your body from absorbing too much salt, which can cause fluid retention. It increases the output of urine, removing extra water and salt from your body, which helps to lower blood pressure.
TRIOLMISTRUM is typically used in patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled on monotherapy or dual therapy and requires further management to reach blood pressure goals.
